1st Year Course - Introduction to systems and major components, basic electricity, thermodynamics, basic refrigeration cycle, scheduled maintenance, systematic problem solving, basic installation and repair methods, energy efficient installations & selling and customer service.

42 Weeks Wednesday Evenings 6:30pm to 9:30pm

2nd Year Course - Refrigeration cycle review, compressors, refrigerants and lubrication, condensers, metering devices, refrigeration accessories, evaporators, evacuation and charging procedures, heating, electrical, electrical troubleshooting, introduction to motors, cooling equipment, mechanical troubleshooting, advanced installation techniquess, control systems, psychrometrics and basic sizing.

42 Weeks Thursday Evenings 6:30pm to 9:30pm

3rd Year Course - Servicing and troubleshooting systems, TAB, energy efficient mechanical systems, fluid handling systems, applied electrical problem solving, applied refrigeration system problem solving, troubleshooting with the psychrometric chart, cooling towers and evaporative condenser, commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems, water treatment and indoor air quality.

42 Weeks Tuesday Evenings 6:30pm to 9:30pm

4th Year Course - Heat Pumps and Mechanical Code will cover typical heat pump systems including water source, ground source, geothermal and air to air heat pumps. This class will focus on the heat pump reverse cycle, installation, troubleshooting and repair of air to air heat pumps, components, motors, compressors, specific defrost and wiring diagrams. For Mechanical Code, definitions and general requirements are covered as well as specific topics that include exhaust systems, commercial kitchens, duct systems, chimneys and vents, combustion air, refrigeration and the installation of specific appliances.

Portions of the California Energy Code and ASHRAE 62.2 will also be covered.
